Just HOW has this year gone by SO quickly?! I feel like September was just last week. Now, as I look at my list of things to get done and events that are coming up, I am getting a little anxious. Before you know it, the year will be over. How sad, yet happy at the same time. So many of these boys and girls have really blossomed as readers, writers, and mathematicians. We have all worked on becoming a classroom family.
Unless the schedule is changed again, we have MAP Language Arts Testing this Thursday morning, first thing, and MAP Math Testing next Thursday morning, first thing. We will be discussing how to read each question and each answer TWICE prior to making your choices. We will be aiming to do our BEST and to think each question through. I am also beginning DRAs this week. Meanwhile, we are continuing to learn and review.
Have your child ask YOU some questions about what we are learning in school. They might ask you what the elements of a story are (characters, setting, plot, problem, solution, personal connection). They might ask you to do some double digit addition or subtraction, create a word problem for you to solve, give you a handful of coins to count, etc. This extends their thinking and empowers them.
I hope all is well with you and yours. Good night for now!
